YOUNG PROFESSIONAL BUYER IN THE CITY? RENOVATE YOUR SPACE TO BECOME YOUR IDEAL HOME

At Brun Design Studio we understand that buying a home in the City can be a very daunting experience. Prices are high and the space that you get for the monies invested is small compared to the north. However, we have the expertise to transform small spaces into luxurious homes.

City living has a number of benefits: better job opportunities, more things to do in the evening and a quality of life that is more faced paced. However, renting can be very expensive and that is why there is more of a trend for young people to invest in buying homes, rather than to rent.  In East London, the average house price is estimated to stand at £525,842 according to the Land Registry of 2020, with renting standing on average at around £1,500 per calendar month.

Brun Design Studio are experts in home renovations; we are able to really use space to its maximum, adding value and beauty to your home, something perfect for city dwellers. Check out the client transformation of a studio home in Shoreditch, a thriving area of East London that is seeing a boom in young professionals purchasing properties, including first home-buyers.

Our client had purchased a superb studio apartment that was well connected to tube stations, a property nicely located near her friends. However, the space was a little less than she wanted. The brief was to transform her small studio home into one that allowed for the client to fit in her belongings, maximizing the available space with clever solution, and creating a luxurious trendy look. Previously the space was part of an old school, boasting great volumes but rather dull and unattractive.

Jean, CEO of Brun Design Studio, firstly sat with the client, asked her what she wanted in order to establish what was the ideal look and feel she envisioned her dream apartment to look like, based on her budget.

The next step was to create a road map design of the new look space. As you can see, the results are phenomenal. Starting with the kitchen area, Jean fitted out the area with a concrete look material that looked chic against the oak style flooring, as inspired by the Barbican Brutalist concrete Architecture. The kitchen was fitted with pull out drawers and with plenty of space to keep kitchen utensils neatly in place, without being visible to the eye.

The living and bedroom areas sit perfectly with each other with the bedroom fitted beautifully above the living space, adding a cool New York studio apartment feel to the London property. Underneath the bedroom, the living area looks open and warm, the perfect place to relax and chill out in after a hard day working in the City. Lighting also played an important role in this project, creating the feel of a wider space.
